- Let children count the number of beads one or 2 beads at a time for older children and begin counting from 1 upto100 depending on each child’s capability. Counting with objects create concrete thinking, thus forming a good fundamental for mathematics.
- Elders can also guide children to count the same color beads as specified and take turns. This will help develop learning new mathematical vocabulary such as color’s name, numeration and comparison (equal to, more than or less than).
- The string attached enables children to carry the abacus wherever they desire; the base can also be adjusted.
- Parents should praise children when they can do it and advice if they are not able to do so.
